If you wish to apply for Sandy's Helping Hand Bursary Fund for 2026, please follow this link.
In recognition of Sandy Fuller’s unwavering dedication and service to Raiders Netball Club, we are proud to announce the creation of the Sandy’s Helping Hand bursary fund. After serving our club for an incredible 10 years as President, Sandy played a pivotal role in shaping the future of our club and the development of countless players, coaches and volunteers. Her passion for ensuring all players feel welcome and nurtured, regardless of ability, has left a lasting legacy in our community.
Who is eligible to apply for the bursary?
Any current or prospective Raiders Netball Club player of any age or ability who can demonstrate financial need is eligible to apply. School-aged applicants must first apply for a Play On! Sports Voucher (or equivalent) and provide evidence of the outcome.
What is the purpose of the bursary?
The bursary is designed to support access to club netball by reducing financial barriers to participation. It honours Sandy Fuller’s commitment to inclusiveness, sportsmanship, and community, enabling players and families who demonstrate these values to participate fully in club netball.
What can the bursary funds be used for?
Funds may be used to cover player participation costs such as registration fees, compulsory uniform items, and other expenses as determined by the Review Committee.
How is the Bursary Paid?
Bursary awards are paid directly to the Club or to relevant suppliers, rather than to the applicant. The amount and payment method are determined by the Review Committee based on individual circumstances and available funds.
How do I apply for the bursary?
Applications must be submitted online via the Club website (www.raidersnetball.com/BursaryFund) prior to Team Selections for the upcoming season.
What documents do I need to submit with my application?
Applicants should provide, if of school age, proof of outcome from the Play On! Sports Voucher (or equivalent program). Applicants will be asked to provide a personal statement (200-300) words explaining your financial situation, your commitment to netball, and how this bursary will assist you in continuing your participation in the sport. Applicants will also be asked to provide a brief statement outlining how you and/or your family plan to contribute to the Raiders community and demonstrate a strong commitment throughout the season. This may include volunteering as a team manager or coach, joining the committee, assisting at events, ensuring players attend all training sessions, umpiring, or other forms of support. Applicants are also welcome to submit a Letter of Recommendation (from coach, teacher, club official, or community leader) or any additional documents supporting financial need.
When is the application deadline?
Applications must be submitted before Team Selections for the upcoming season.
Can I apply if I have already received a bursary in previous years?
Yes, previous recipients may apply again. However, receiving a bursary in one year does not guarantee funding in future years. Each application is assessed independently based on current circumstances and available funds.
What if the Bursary is granted but I don’t fulfil the eligibility criteria or I withdraw from the season after receiving the bursary?
If a recipient does not fulfil the eligibility criteria (e.g., attendance, conduct, or provides false/misleading information) or withdraw mid-season, the Club reserves the right to withdraw the bursary and recover any associated costs. Uniforms issued must be returned within 7 days of withdrawal. Not fulfilling eligibility criteria or providing false information may impact your eligibility for future bursary applications.
Does receiving a bursary in one year mean I will receive it in future years?
No, receiving a bursary in one year does not guarantee you will receive it in future years. Each application is assessed independently.
